This game is perfect for training yourself on multiple waits. One of the hardest and most complicated aspects of mahjong is actually seeing the various complex waits there are in the game. These waits are crucial in mahjong. Not only is it important to know complex waits to play efficiently, but if you aren’t aware of all the tiles that complete your hand, you might deal a tile that finishes your hand and become furiten. This may cause you to pay a chombo fee, and I’ve seen this happen many times. This game lets you play a one on one game with the computer with only the bamboo tiles. In other words, you have a wall of 34 bamboo tiles to pick from, and a turn lasts only about 2 or 3 draws from the wall. Will you be able see the complex waits and be the one to complete a hand first? Or will you loose all your points paying chombo fees? Try it yourself here. |

First of all, there are several different versions of transparent sets out there. There is the official Akagi set which is the one I have here, and there are cheaper ones that you can find both in Japan and in Europe. |

Martin Rep, the editor of Mahjong News and the organiser of the tournaments Cherry Blossom and Kinryu Majan is organising yet another but unique tournament in Holland this summer. Without a doubt, its Washizu Majan. I have wanted to play a real Washizu game since the moment I saw the tiles in the Akagi series, but have yet to do so although I have a transparent tile set. I’ve played a little now and then, but never in the sense of a serious game. I can’t wait to see how this event will turn out, with so many quality players coming from around the world. From what I’ve heard, there’s a little chance that even Fukumoto will be there! |
